For one, manatees live in Florida and we can affect them in huge ways. Taking the time to learn  about these amazing mammals and how we can protect them can really make an impact. Another reason why I like our topic, is because its something that is easy to teach to younger kids. It was relatable because many of them have spotted manatees. For example one our our questions was; 'Do you think manatees have whiskers? If so go to (that) side of the room and if not go to (that) side of the room'. Each student would have their own choice, but they could run around as well. This made for a fun and interactive activity.  

Another activity we did was a 'manatee role play'.
