The Adolescent Brain

In the TED talk "Insight Into the Teenage Brain" Adriana Galván discusses the adolescent brain and how it changes everyday. Galván spoke about how adolescent brains aren't fully developed, the frontal cortex is developing until the mid 20s, since this is the part of the brain involved in decision making, teenagers are more likely to make risky decisions. She also discussed a study she conducted in which three different age groups (kids, teens, and adults) were given rewards and the teenage brain responded the most to them. Teenage characters in the Crucible, like Abigail and her group of friends liked to be rewarded also. When they “caught” a witch they were praised immensely, which they reacted to by accusing more and more people to receive more praise. The teenage brain is still developing, so some things teens do aren't rational, but when rewarded, can be swayed to do things more likely to reward them once more.
