As Julian Treasure stated in his speech, people won't listen to you if you are committing so much as 1 of "the 7 deadly sins of speaking". He listed them as Gossip, Judging, Negativity, Complaining, Excuses, Lying, and Dogmatism. These make any speech uninteresting and dull, or just bad in general considering the sin Lying. These aspects of a speech can make it ineffective, however there are ways to counter them, or just make a speech better to begin with. Mr. Treasure made the acronym H.A.I.L. to stand for these principles; Honesty, Authenticity, Integrity, Love. But they don't come easy, and I can speak with experience, however I'll just say a single example. My example will apply to Integrity; it is all to easy to say you will do great things to make an audience love you and what you say you will do, but then fall back due to the sheer size of your promise. You have to follow through. To conclude, make sure you follow these guidelines as Mr. Treasure is a truly great speaker, and a reliable source.
