Puritans

The puritans were English protestants who had many beliefs. They wanted to spread their gospel and were very religious.They believed in total depravity and believed that the devil was always out to get them. There answer was that witches were apart of the devil team and were out to get them, so they killed and stayed away from any witches or witchcraft. They believed that you were either born a sinner or saved.

Witch trials

Salem Witch Trials were held by the puritans. These trials were held because the Puritans were terrified of witches and two girls suspected that many people were practicing witchcraft. In these trials you didn't need no evidence and if the two girls said you were a witch or practicing witch craft then you were immediately executed. The two girls blamed homeless people that talked to themselves, old people, bartenders, and whoever else they wanted. These trials led to many people dying for no reason because the puritans had strong beliefs and didn't want any witches.

Witch Hysteria

Witch Hysteria was a widespread panic and anxiety from puritans from witchcraft. They believed the devil was out to get them and that's why many people were getting sick or had bad things happen to them. Anything bad happens to them they basically blamed it on witchcraft or the devil. It led to people accusing each other, witch trials, death, and superstition. Many innocent people had to go to trial because people were throwing people under the bus because they got accused and didn't want to be a witch.

The Two Girls

The Two Girls started all these trials and started blaming everyone that they were witches which led the whole town believing and bowing to them. It started when they had no education and heard stories about witches, since they knew people wanted to accuse them of being a witch so then they started blaming everyone else. The two girls blamed everyone else to save themselves and they needed no evidence either and many puritans just believed them. The whole town believed them and all bowed to them so they wouldn't be next. The two girls saved themselves but got other people killed for no reason and made everyone seem like a witch so they wouldn't be accused.

Calvinism

Calvinism was a belief that that "salvation" us by Gods will and not human will. It was teachings by John Calvin. It shaped beliefs for practices of puritans. It was a community governed by God and not the people, the puritans wanted it to be the best community in the world. Since it was governed by God it would be the best and not by the people. Practices like witch craft made the puritans extra scared since it was governed by God and witch craft is a sin and shall not be used anywhere.
