I was a Spanish teacher at a primary school in the mornings, and I taught at university in the afternoons. One morning I was teaching classroom objects to the kids. "Pencil-lapiz", "ruler-regla"... and "rubber-goma de borrar" was one of the items I showed them in a flashcard while they all repeated the words after me. At the end of the lesson, one of the teachers told me: "Belen, here in the States we DO not say rubber, we say eraser. Do you know why? Because rubber in the States is a condom." Oooooppppsss!!!
