What people in early America felt, saw, or understood about diseases/medical professionals/medical innovations was since most nurses were not trained to perform the procedures they did and they didn't know about diseases so they lost more people to disease than to other things. Many nurses did everything in their power to save their patients but with the little resources they had, they lost so many people. Later on in the future medical innovations started to become known and they started losing fewer people. They also began to train their nurses more and it continued to evolve into what it is now.
