What I thought about the book:

Overall the book is extremely interesting and intriguing. I really liked how the author told the story in first person point of view as it helped with the connection between the reader and the protagonist. Also the book contained a lot of description which led to imagery, where the reader could really imagine what was going on the book and how this dystopian world looked. The best part of the book was the plot and the setting. The plot really takes readers through a journey that is out of this world, literally as the story takes place in space. The setting was personally the best aspect of the book because you don’t really see a lot of books especially dystopian taking place in multiple planets in the universe. I also like how the author used aspects of fiction in a non childish way. Which makes the book perfect for young adults. Overall the book really reminded me of the Hunger Games and the medieval era.

Yes, I would definitely recommend this book, especially to people who really enjoy a paced plot which leaves you on the edge of your seat. The book is really attention grabbing and it has a lot of different themes. The book also uses a lot of imagery which gives readers an exciting imaginable picture of where the story takes place.
I would recommend this book to people who are fans of the hunger games. As the book has many aspects that are similar to those of the hunger games trilogy. Personally I am a hunger games fan and I loved how reminiscent this book was to the Hunger Games. I would say its the Hunger Games taken to another level of futuristic conflicts. Also I would recommend this book because it has a very interesting storyline that continues on as the book is part of trilogy.

“All men are not created equal, he declares. Tall, imperious, an eagle of a man. The weak have deceived you. They would say the meek shall inherit the Earth. That the strong should nurture the gentle. This is the Noble Lie of Democracy. The cancer that poisoned mankind. His eyes pierce the gathered students. You and I are Gold. We are the end of the evolutionary line. We tower above the flesh heap of man, shepherding the lesser colors.”

This quote from the book really interested me and I believe is an important part of the introduction of the book. In this quote you can see that the world that is unintentionally described as a place with alot of societal division. This quote also suggests that there may be control and order in this future world because the character talking refers to himself as Gold and others as lesser colors. Which is a sign of intentional organization of a society.

“Man cannot be freed by the same injustice that enslaved it.”
This shows the societal probem that the main protagonist Darrow is challenging in his world. Which connects to his overall hero's journey.

“Personally, I do not want to make you a man. Men are so very frail. Men break. Men die. No, I’ve always wished to make a god.”
This describes the drive the main character has throughout the story and through the plot.

This cover art defines the protagonist Darrow. Since he is known based on his societal class as a Red. Which are slaves who work in the mines of Mars. Throughout the story he is planning on rising to the top and change the world in which he lives in. Therefore the wings represent his journey from the bottom to the top.
