Hello, We are Laura and Graciela. We saw the video about “Technology in education” and also “The history of technology in education”. The first one makes us think if we use technology effectively or we have a powerful tool that we don’t really take advantage of. Technology allows our students and us to be creative, work in groups, keep engage with games, songs and activities and the most important thing is that the subject we teach allows our students to communicate and use language in a productive and personal way. And the second one it’s a kind of childlike story in order to understand the evolution of technology through the history of humanity, it’s very simple so as to keep in mind how technology has improved along many centuries.

Both videos share the idea that technology is a great and powerful tool to use in education. And it has been in that way since prehistoric times. With the passing of time technology has evolved for the better and kept its importance in relation to education. But if we don’t use it in a smart way it’s just another misused tool.

It's not such a clear message but if you look deep inside and think about both videos we think the main idea is to use technology in a good and productive way. To use it in order to improve our classes and not just as something that is fashionable. It's a challenge to find the correct and engaging way to use technology in our classes. Our students need to learn about the world that surrounds us because they are going to use the language to communicate.

We think that the videos are updated because they make us realized about our teaching practices today, even though they may have some years on the web.

They don’t reflect our everyday teaching because we don’t have access to most of the tools used nowadays worldwide. We have to try to get the best of our students with just a handful tools available. We as a third world country are really far away from the use of this kind of technology in most of our public or private schools.

The title of this video summarises the central idea : a magical story. It was like magic how things changed for both teachers and students with the arrival of technology. And how their learning strategies changed for the better. It shows the infinite ways in which technology can be used to enrich and make classes more dynamic and engaging. It shows how real classes became alive with the correct use of technology.

We haven’t heard the term WORD CLOUD before but we’ve seen some and found them quite interesting.

WORD CLOUDS ( also known as text clouds or tag clouds) work in a simple way: the more a specific word appears in a source of textual data (such as a speech, blog post, or database), the bigger and bolder it appears in the word cloud. The idea of using this kind of tool is to highlight important words in a text.

https://home.smarttech.com/en/about-us/customer-stories/case-studies/an-effective-implementation-empowering-teachers-to-des

From our very personal opinion this kind of tool may be really useful and attractive in classes today because students are getting tired of the traditional way of learning new items of vocabulary from a boring list on books.

We imagine using this kind of tools to present a set of words to a group of children or teens and ask them to identify the different words, write them down on their notebooks and illustrate or group them etc. It would be a great and fun activity to start a new unit.
