The separation was significant because for the first time in history, Singapore was a completely independent state. Foreign governance had no hold on the nation and they didn't have to adhere to their rules anymore.

It was also important because now the government was able to focus on solely the needs of the people and put their energy into that instead of worrying how the British or the Federation would react to the policies.

Another reason is because they could also control the way their society and economy worked. There would no longer be social clashes due to British supremacy and also fights with the Malays. Singaporeans could now be wealthier and not just workers for the colonisers.

Singapore's separation helped it achieve sovereignty and was extremely important in it eventually gaining sovereignty and its own identity as a nation.

This was also significant because the separation pushed Singapore into learning how to survive on its own, without the influence of other countries controlling things to be a certain way.

Lastly, the separation paved the way in Singapore developing into a first-world country in a short amount of time. Its government leaders now had full control over the country, and this shows that they truly cared about Singapore's future.

Singapore's diplomatic development was vital because it improved both the security and economy of the country. Thanks to better friendships with other nations, they could be more relaxed and eliminate threats of wars. Singapore was able to join the Commonwealth, the UN and ASEAN and consequently improved their bonds.

Singapore's economy also was stablilised as they could have more forms of income from foreign states. Money would be able to come in and out of Singapore and they needed that investment to be able to rebuild and improve the state of their fragile country.

These relationships would also help build Singapore's image as an independent country and influence other countries to recognise them. This would also build confidence in Singapore's independence and security which would increase investors as well.

This was essential because they were a very new country and needed a stable flow of money.

Other than that, Singapore was contested for its perfect naval location when it comes to trading and the import and export of goods. Thanks to their improved relations with other countries, this would aid the economy's growth.

The more business happening, the more investors would be attracted to a place; this was what Singapore needed in order for its economy to flourish.
