How much pizza did he eat in total? </strong></p><p><br></p><p>We should use our fraction strips to solve this. First, we put 5/9 out using five 1/9 strips. Then, we add two more 2/9 strips to represent the additional 2/9 he had for dinner.</p><p><br></p><p>Finally, let's count the total number of 1/9 strips to find the answer. In this case, it's 7/9.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Let's explore how fractions are used in everyday life! </strong>You will choose a topic, gather information, analyze it using fractions, and present it to the class next week. </p><p><br/></p><p>Example topics: cooking, video games, sports, shopping, school exams, etc.</p><p><br/></p><p>Collect information related to your topic. If you choose cooking, you will likely look at the fractions of the ingredients in a recipe.</p><p><br/></p><p>Analyze and use different methods to explore your fractions (like we did in class) such as drawing pictures, using fraction strips, or creating number lines. You got this!</p><p><br/></p><p>Finally, you will create your presentation. You can make a <strong>poster, a drawing, a short video, or a slideshow. </strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong><mark>You will be grading your classmates' efforts and presentation skills. Each student must grade 3 of their classmates and turn in the rubric to me.
