Egoistic suicide results from the lack of attachment from outside world or institutions such as family. It is caused when individuals detached themselves and no longer become the part of social integration. According to Durkhiem there are three major powerful counter agents that acts against suicide i.e. Religion, family (marriages), political or National groups.


→Altruistic suicide: 
This type of Suicide is caused due to excessive integration of individual to social group and in their customs, laws. It happens when the individual go through over commandments. We can take the example of "Johar". 

→Anomic suicide: 
This type of Suicide is caused when there is "normlessness" in the society or when there is deregulation. Durkhiem took up on this type his saw rapid increase in suicide rates during the time of economics crisis for instance 1845 and 1869 in Europe. Factors that contribute to this kind of Suicide can be sudden changes in lifestyle or breakup of marriages.

I. EGOISTIC SUICIDE :

Egoistic suicide results from the lack of integration of the individual into his social group. According to Durkheim, the first point at which the individual is in contact with society is a Religious groups'.

'Family'like religious group is a powerful counter against suicide.

The third point of attachment between the individual and the society is the 'Political or National Group'.

II. ALTRUISTIC SUICIDE :

This kind of suicide results from over integration of the individual into his social group.

Durkheim thought that the cause of altruistic suicide in tribal societies is to be found in their high degree of social integration.

III. ANOMIE SUICIDE :

Anomic can be defined as the decline in the regulatory power of the society Anomic suicide result from normlessness or deregulation in society. Durkheim's discussion of Anomic suicide begins by looking at the suicide rates during the times of economic crisis like industrial of financial crisis. During this crisis there was a rapid rise in the suicidal rate

In analyzing the consequences of Anomic, Durkheim showed that there was a high rate of Anomic suicide among those who are wealthy as well as among divorced persons.

IV. FATALISTIC SUICIDE :

This is the last category of Durkheim's Theory of suicide.
