Bees have many different types of species each with their own benefits and flaws. There are some bees that may appear wasp like, but are not the same. They are different by their branched body hairs, especially on the top of the thorax. Bees also have different types of bodies for survival out in the world. For example, honeybees and bumblebees have hairy bodies to collect pollen. More than just body types, bees are different in there colonies. Social bees like honeybees live in colonies where the queen lays eggs and the worker bees feed them. In nonsocial bee colonies, the queen by herself finds a nest, lays eggs, and feeds the larvae without any help from worker bees.

Bees have a interesting and beneficial body that helps them get whatever they need to get done. All the bees have the same three parts of their body; the head, the thorax, and the abdomen. The head contains the compound eyes that let them see ultraviolet rays, and simple eyes that detect light in a area. Also, on their head are mandibles that are used for eating pollen, cutting and shaping wax, feeding baby larvae and the queen, cleaning the hive, grooming themselves, and fighting. To add on, the head contains antennas or also called feelers, are used to detect smells. Proboscis is the tongue that allows for drinking of water and honey. The thorax includes the wings, legs, and other muscles involved with movement. The wings have two types, the forewing and hindwing, and when flapped rapidly it causes the bee to fly. The legs are hair so they can collect pollen from plants. The abdomen, has different parts depending on job and gender. The queen bees and worker bees have stingers connected to vital organs. The queen has female reproductive organs while Drones-male bees- have male reproductive organs. Finally, different bees have different body features. For example, honeybees and bumblebees have hairy bodies for gather pollen to pollenate.

The stages of a bee's life is pretty simple and follows this order. First, for social bees, a queen build a colony and starts laying eggs. She feed the larvae with royal honey so they can grow to be strong. Next, the eggs hatch and they emerge as full grown adults and are sent out to find nectar and pollinate. The queen retires to just staying in the nest and laying eggs for the worker bees to feed. So the cycle goes worker bees collect nectar and pollen, queen lays eggs, worker bees feed the larvae, larvae emerge as full grown adults and search for nectar and to pollinate. When queen bees are born, one is born and it kills the rest of the eggs so their is no competition. social bees are different however, the queen does most of the work. After the queen finds a nest, she starts to lay eggs. She feeds the eggs with nectar, and takes care of them. No worker bees are required for the queen to lay and take care of eggs.

The bee's sting is what people mostly remember when they think of bees. They are painful and are the most terrifying thing about bees. The sting is designed to inject the target with venom, and if gone untreated it could be a serious problem. Different types of bees have different types of stings, some worst, some better. Honeybees, when they sting, although painful will cause the bee to die if they try to fly away because the stinger will get pulled out with other vital organs. Bumblebees on the other hand, can sting more than once since their stinger is smooth. Also, bumblebees are more defensive around their nests. Killer bees, are most aggressive bee out there. They can sting multiple times, are extremely aggressive, and will chase people for long distances. Lastly of the popular bees, are carpenter bees. Actually, carpenter bees do not have a stinger, but rather dig in wood and ground.

In the book stung, bees have gone extinct due to us humans killing them and not taking care of them. Bees pollinate flowers and plants so they can get nectar, and us humans can eat the fruit and eat the animals that eat the fruit. Since bees are important to our lives, when they are removed they can cause a big problem in our world. Food sources will grow scarce, honey will become as rare as gold, nothing will be the same. With all the different bee types and what they do, each one is important to our lives and we need them so we can live peacefully.
