Below is a concept map for 5 of the many important elements of Writing, including culturally relevant instruction, the 6 traits, assessment, writing conferences, and mini lessons.
One of the things that culturally relevant instruction includes is funds of knowledge. Funds of knowledge are experiences and information that people gain throughout their lives, especially related to their culture.
One of the things that assessment includes is formative and summative assessment. Formative assessment is done throughout a lesson or unit and used to shape instruction based off of the students' results. Summative assessment is conducted at the end of a unit and the information is not revisited.
One of the things included in writing conferences are that they are conversational. A writing conference should not be a teacher strictly asking questions. In contract, it should be two writers discussing a piece, a process, and techniques. The students should be talking just as much as the teacher is.
One of the things included in mini lessons are that they include mentor texts. Mentor texts can be examples of student work, teacher work, or any published work. They are used to inspire students and allow them to practice the craft moves that they see in the mentor text in their own writing.

https://vocaroo.com/i/s1XsD31vKLrV
