Animators are the ones that give life to the characters of a TV show, movie, or video game. They do this by using a multitude of animation and video editing programs. The end result is a masterpiece of characters and scenes moving about the screen acting out a well thought out and beautifully executed story and before you know it its over. In the end it has you begging for more. However a lot of what you're seeing is a few months, even up to a year, old. This is because every little movement, even the slightest little twitch of a finger or blink of the eyelids, takes time, the animators have to draw a new picture for every little movement. Then after the lineart is animated animators have to go back through each and every frame to add color to the drawings. Sometimes animators will even choose to spend the night at work to continue so they can reach their deadline. It's a difficult but very rewarding career path.
