They have to pick through garbage to get money and feed themselves. But they have it better than others because they were fortunate to be able to find a job in less than 2 months, and they also found people who are used to this lifestyle to help them get through this. Right now, they are basically homeless :(. They deserve better, but i'm glad they got away from that toxic abusive father. I think that Viji also  underestimates Rukku.
