Firstly, I think that horse- riding is very healty because you have a treat with animals, also you are outdoors and doing phisical exersice.

About self-defense I believe it's very useful and you will be able to fight back when someone wants to steal something from you or you see a suspicious move in the street or wherever you are.
And a jazz/percussion band it will be really fun and people who like music will love it. It's a good idea to have an activity which you can relax after the whole school day.
