There are more states now then there ever was in the past and with that greater opportunities for conflict but also more opportunities for prosperity and coordination. I guess it really depends on what your viewpoint is. If its more realist. Then there will be more conflict as states continue to compete for sake of their own security. If one has a more liberal view of the world one believes that an institution could be established among these actors that could generate more peace.

While there is still the concern of war, the threat is different.
- Lily G.

At the end of the day, each state has to agree to work to solve international issues or not, so the state will continue to be the primary actor in world affairs. Although international organizations can certainly play a role, any role would have to fall under state authority.

1. We don’t necessarily know that there are more issues, but there are far more actors and the world is far more connected and so issues seem to be harder to solve. So maybe there aren’t more issues, they’re just more of a problem because of how the international system works today.

In the future there will be more transnational issues because it gets easier and easier to move between nations. So disease could spread more quickly, crime could go on better and less detected, also with the internet and cyber hacking.
Are there more international issues then there used to be? Yes, because before people stuck to their own continent, for the most part. There weren’t tourists from America to china because there was no America and China was so far away. The world has become much smaller. Also we have more technology that can effect things like climate which is a transnational issue.
Transnational issue leading to more air or less war? Less war I think, because we would have a common issue, like disease, or climate, or a common enemy that would bring us together to get rid of it.
