They use product placement as a technique because certain products can attract a customer into a shop and some will make a customer want too continue looking around the shop for that or a similar product. An example would be a beautiful big and colourful flower that attracts people too look at the flower near the entrance of the shop which can conversely draw customers too the entrance of the building and going into the building and potential begin shopping even if they had no intention of shopping there. Aswell as this, next too big appliances like a barbecue, there are barbecue essentials such as fuel, charcoal and even lawn chairs. This is specifically placed next too the barbecue too influence the customer too think "if i buy this will i need that aswell?" which pushes the customer too maybe buy another or chain of products that without being placed next too it would never have been bought which will drive more sales.

They use this technique too draw the customers attention away from the dull background and onto deals and bargains that are in a stronger and bolder colour. (grey floor and the deals are a deep orange) This is because the customer will spend more time in the shop absorbing irresistible deals which will influence what they might buy because of a sign or offer they noticed on a product.
Aswell as this, the products such as a chair and table have colours that suit or go really well with each other which pushes the customer too buy the set of products apposed too one because without a complementing cushion etc the product initially might not satisfy the needs of the consumer.

Homebase uses this technique not too directly show specifically the exact location of a product, but the general area too where the "family" of products are. This means that a customer can spend more time looking for the product which could allow them too notice another product they might want too buy or use. The signs are located in blocks with arrows showing the general area of the product and similar products so if the customer sees what he wants ie a oven he can also see a tabletop that might suit a collection and therefore lead too another purchase. Some of the signs hang from the ceilings which gives allows the for the signs to greatly standout as the contrast of the grey walls and floors illuminates the branded green colours. Aswell as this the font is easy to read so most people with poor vision should still be able to understand what the sign is saying.

The products in HomeBase are mainly separated by either style or season or based on the "family" of products they belong too. For example they have items such as knives and forks together because you can't buy one without the other. Aswell as this (especially with furniture) during holiday seasons like Halloween or Christmas they share specific colours or styles that relate too that season which allows for a certain aesthetic too be suggested and for the customer, it will improve the chance that they will buy the product because of the close ties too a theme or conveyed idea. Also it helps too categories certain products together which makes it easier for the consumer too understand where a certain item should be located. This is because you assume a sink will be in either in "Kitchens" or "Bathrooms". [based on the photo in Signage]

The colours used in Homebase's logo are green and orange. This is important because the main colours used in the store for signs and directions are green and the bargain colours are orange. They maintain the same colours for consistency so that people don't confuse the different signs and misinterpret something. They use this style of colour because its related too the branding of Homebase which conveys the idea that the products used inside the shop are specifically Homebases which means if a product is decent quality it will reflect positively on Homebase as a brand aswell. Aswell they might have a set pallet for a season of the year like winter which might influence a customers decision to buy a product if everything around it is white and purple. Also it could be orange in autumn to try and sell Halloween decorations which pushes a theme that many people might enjoy thefore increasing the likelihood of a product being purchased.

This will get the store publicity because people on social media will see the picture. This then leads to more people talking about the mannequin which results in the business gaining more attention online and publicity. Therefore more people are likely to go into the store and see the mannequin and then possibly buy the shirt the mannequin is wearing.

This suits the product because placing shirts/shoes and many other different products together can make a customer overwhelmed and feel that they cant focus on one product and therefore decreases the chance of a sale, but because they are clearly separated and spaced away, its easier for a shopper too decide what they want too buy and gives the product more room too "showoff" and increase the chances of a sale.

The colour blocking suits the product because if they have random colours of shoes on a display it isn't visually appealing too look at and will more likely draw the customers eyes away from the shoes and onto something else because if can be harsh too look at. Aswell as this, the white shoes in the centre of the black shoes are actually more expensive which suggests that Adidas placed the products there too increase the likelihood that a customer will buy the white ones based on the colour separation.

The mannequins suit the product because
they usually give a realistic idea of what the product would look like on the customer. This is good because it enables the customer too have a better idea of what the product will look like on them.

This suits the product because segmenting products by the theme they have can allow for a display that all encompasses that specific theme. This means that if all the Christmas themed items are placed together, you are more likely too get a better aesthetic because products such as toy elves, reindeer and snowmen together allows for the theme too be clearly shown which increases the chance a customer will buy the product because of the theme it is suggesting.
