Today we received instructions to start the task in our groups. We all started to brainstorm ideas for the activity we will choose. We went down the lines of doing something active. There are people in the group that have specific needs such as physical or mental disabilities. We have had to adapt our activity to meet their needs so that they feel included.

In the morning, we gathered our equipment from Jack to practice our activity in the sports hall. We set up all the equipment and had people from our class test out our activity to see if we needed to make any changes or if it would work. We also took part in playing other people's activities as this helped them to run it and change how they do it to make it simpler. We changed our rules such as giving people three tries for a certain part of our activity so it suits different peoples abilities. It would also give them a chance to try their best. We also told them team to hi five the next person doing it to get everyone in the mood to cheer them all on. We also decided as a group what we were going to say during the activity so we all had a chance to show group management.

In today's lesson we decided on what activity we were going to perform. We decided on doing an obstacle course as this would include different obstacles for different disabilities. This way everyone will be able to take part and do something different each time. We also had to decide on a kit list. We knew we would need a range of equipment as we were doing an obstacle course but tried to make it simple. We decided on using benches, hoops, cones and handballs. Once we made this list, we gave it to the Sports Co-ordinater, Jack. He then supplied the equipment for us to practice the activity next lesson.

We decided our chosen activity would be an obstacle course. We decided to start it with walking round cones, running on hoops, putting a ball between your leg and going round cones, walking across a bench, putting a hoop over your head and shooting a basketball into the hoop. There will be in two separate teams. The aim of the game is to get all players in each team round the obstacle course and the team with the quickest time to finish wins. The rules of the game are to go through all the obstacle course and hi five your next teammate when you finish. If a player doesn't feel comfortable doing part of the obstacle course, they can skip that stage and move on to the next bit. They have 3 chances to do each step and if after those tries they haven't completed it, they will then move onto the next stage. When your whole team has completed it, they must sit down to show they have finished.

In class our group made a risk assessment so if anything were to happen during the activity, we would be able to record it. After practicing the activity with our classmates, the bench came to our attention as a possible issue. We decided that we would offer assistance to everyone participating if they needed it. This can include them holding our hand or our arms to get across as it seemed to be wobbly. We decided that at the start of the activity we would mention to everyone participating that they should take their time. This would be for their own health and safety and this would also prevent injury. To ensure they didn't slip, we mentioned in the poster that they should all wear appropriate footwear which they all did. We used equipment that was simple and set it out easily so it was easily followed. We made everyone go one by one so it would avoid people bumping into each other.

Between the group, we all assisted the activity in different ways. We started off by gathering everyone in a line in front of us so we could clearly see them and they would be able to listen carefully. This was also so that we could see who wasn't paying attention and it was a chance for us to introduce ourselves to everyone. We communicated with everyone together but also communicated with people individually who had any questions or anyone that was unsure of the activity. We all observed the activity in different areas around the course. Emma was at the start with the team helping them go and managing the timer, I was next managing each player who was moving round each cone with a ball. I would then put it back on the cone. I also would help anyone who needed help getting across the bench. Clairesse was at the end of the activity managing the basketball hoop, gathering the ball and making sure they return to their team and giving a hi five to the next person. We would make sure that once a team has finished and the team waiting would have plenty of water to stay hydrated. We finished by thanking them for participating and then cleared up the equipment.

Our group have created a register and an accident report form. We have created the register so that if there was a fire evacuation, we would know how many people we should have. We have also created the accident report form so that if there was an accident, we would be able to record it so there is evidence of what happened in that situation.

I feel that I contributed to the group well in finding an activity that was suited for participants. I had the responsibility of making the register and the accident report form. For setting up the activity, I thought I contributed well to the team by laying out the bench and some of the cones. As for my performance on the day, I would say that I have shown good group management skills and how to assist my other teammates in doing a good job. I felt that I showed the participants the activity well as they clearly understood what they were doing and they didn't ask many questions. I didn't assist the participants on the bench very much as they all felt comfortable to do it themselves. I thought that I made a good effort in trying to get all the participants cheering for their teammates. This made the participants feel a sense of achievement when they got to the end and every clapped for them.

As a group we felt that the location of the activity was accessible to everyone and not too far from their classes of learning. We weren't affected by the weather as we were inside where it was warm. We had a large amount of even numbers and this made it fair for both teams as they would be scored fairly. There were no accidents involved during our activity as they wore appropriate footwear and took their time. The participants behaviour was very good. They all listened carefully and cheered on all their teammates. The activities were suitable for everyone who took part as we took into consideration their disability and the difficulty of it. We made it nice and simple so everyone would find it fun. We had plenty of resources to use for our activity and used a wide range of different things so it wouldn't be too repetitive. Everyone that wanted to participate did and some sat out and watched. This was a choice we gave to everyone at the beginning as we didn't want to force them to do anything they didn't want to do. They all enjoyed it as some said thank you and that they would like to do it again with Jack.
