Thor Ragnorok - narrative theory applied

This Marvel feature film follows the eponymous protagonist/ hero 'Thor' - the god of thunder - in his battle to save his home realm of Asgard from subjugation by his evil older sister and chief antagonist, Hela. An equilibrium state of apparent happiness and peace is established in Asgard at the beginning albeit that Thor has been imprisoned by the underworld demon Surtur. However it established that he is simply doing his usual job of keeping Asgard from harm and quickly succeeds - preventing any disruption.
The real disruption is caused soon after by the death of Thor and Loci's father, Odin, allowing their previously unknown evil older sister, Hela, who is the key villain, to return to Asgard and take over.
Thor is a fairly typical hero who is helped by his brother Loci who, as expected in previous films, turns out to be a 'false hero' by betraying his brother but in this film redeems himself by returning to help his brother defeat Hela and evacuate Asgard. In this he is aided by other helpers such as the comic character Korg.
Thor's father Odin plays the dispatcher role - frequently offering Thor advice in dream sequences. He also acts as donor, having previously provided Thor with his hammer, he helps Thor discover that his real power is his control of lightning.
The 'princess' role is more atypical in this film. There is a suggestion of romance between Thor and Valkyrie but this character is strong and independent and ends up fulfilling the role of helper alongside Hulk. The princess role is actually fulfilled by the Asgardians who have to be evacuated from Asgard to avoid being destroyed.
A resolution is found when Loci brings a massive spaceship to evacuate the people of Asgard and a new equilibrium is reached where they appear to now be fated to wander the cosmos aboard this ship.
The narrative is closed at the point of the end credits - a satisfactory resolution has been found - the people are saved. However, as is a convention with most Marvel feature films, an additional teaser scene within the closing credits keeps the narrative open and encourages viewers to watch the next Marvel film which will continue the narrative.
There is an assumption that the audience will get to see these now familiar characters again in future narratives which is likely to attract further revenue. Enigma codes are also used to signal future narrative developments such as when Loci sees the blue Tesseract - a magical, power-giving 'infinity stone' - in Odin's vault. This is also a reference to previous Marvel films in which the Tesseract plays a key part.
