Delphi was first settled in 1500 BC. The city is popular because of the temple dedicated to Apollo. The ancient Greeks considered Delphi to be the center of the world. Persia attacked Delphi in 480 BC, and was attacked again later in 279 BC by the Gauls. It was rediscovered in 1880. There are only a few columns left of the temple to this day.
