Children are becoming antisocial because their parents consume TV and buy them one. This makes these kids less likely to go outside and hang out with their friends. This way the kids are watching the TV that their parents bought them. Eventually, these kids will grow up and have kids and buy them a TV, thus contributing to consumerism. Consumerism affects everyone, money makes the world go round, and we kids need food and water so our parents buy us these items. This contributes to the store and person who supplies these goods. That supplier needs to pay taxes that go directly to the government. The government pays the parents and the parents pay the supplier. Consumerism is a part of everyday life, and it directly controls the way that kids see this cycle of paying for things.

The cause of tv consumption is people wanting their own tv because they want to watch what they want to watch, not what others want to. This leads to multiple TVs in the house. If the TVs are in a public place in the house, then they might want to watch tv alone. Because families have more than 1 Tv, Kids are more likely to watch tv alone. This also leads to kids moving a tv in their room. Consumerism only probably affects me by inflation, because I don't have a TV in my room.

1. In this paragraph, it is talking about how whenever a new type of TV was created, the sales of the previous type have decreased and are no longer bought as much. I found two cause and effect examples in this text that support this. The first example is in the beginning when it states, "color CRT models declined precipitously" and it is followed up by, "The adoption rate of flat-panel sets has been steep and unprecedented". This is explaining that once color CRT models began to decrease in sales, flat-panel TV sets started to increase. This is because they were becoming a more popular brand as TVs continued to evolve.

2. The cause and effect that I found in the text do relate to consumerism. I think that these relate to consumerism because although the sales of color CRT models were going down, a new type of TV (flat-panel TVs) started to become popular and more people wanted to buy those instead of the color CRTs. This is a good example of consumerism because it is helping us expand our knowledge and help the evolution of TVs in the future as we create new types of TVs and convince others to start buying those. People are going to want newer TVs as they come out because the positive affects that consumerism has on us tells us that newer TVs are going to have more features and possibilities that are included.

3. The causes and effects of consumerism affect me because as consumerism continues, the new creations or adaptations to previous inventions that we see continue to become better. This helps spread news faster, it helps entertain, and it can help others communicate or connect from long distances. All three of these are things that I have experienced because of consumerism, as well. I would only be able to experience these if consumerism continued in a positive direction, because that would mean that things would keep changing and getting better.

Because of the rise of popularity in TVs, many American lifestyles have changed. Because of this, many people cant picture their life without a TV.
The purchase of a TV is basically a must in the modern age, which has made the price of TVs rise (inflation). This affects lots of families who want TVs, but cant afford them due to the price. So, older, less productive generations of TV have to be sold.
But, TV also allows for the connection of families through, games, movies, and shows. I personally like to watch shows with my family every Wednesday, which allows for a good bonding experience. In my opinion though, TVs are not the best way for a family to bond.

That very few kids born in the last two decades will be able to create a social world that has no been slightly shaped by the imagery, discourse, and ideas coming from television programs. Because TV's have been so woven into our everyday life that, most of us can't go a day without watching TV. We kind of consume being able to have the luxury of being able to get or have a TV. And we value watching TV shows and movies over being active and being productive. As many American kids, I also have easy access to a TV and it has stopped me more than multiple times from being productive and being active.
