Roxie- I enjoyed the story. I thought that the clues were well thought out and intentionally placed. They weren't so random that I couldn't understand how they connected. The story, though, was confusing at times. It was hard to follow, but worthwhile in the end.

Bridget- I loved this story. It was interesting and it caught my eye. The title caught my attention and it was an interesting read.

Ava- I enjoyed this story a lot. I thought the story line was interesting and the end shocked me.

Shelby- I think this story was really interesting. Overall it was very fun to read and to learn about. The way the author wrote this, it kept my attention throughout the whole story.

While the "speckled band" was referring to the snake that killed her, it sent the detective on a goose chase trying to find what it meant. They thought it meant the band of gypsies, not the snake.

Roxie- My favorite moment is when Sherlock noticed that there was a vent connecting Julia and her stepfather's room, the perfect avenue for a snake to crawl through. It made a lot of things click in my head, and the story began to make sense with how she died with all of these odd circumstances.

Ava- My favorite moment in the story is when Sherlock reveals what is going on. Sherlock tells them that the snake is the speckled band and that Dr. Roylott sends the snake through the vent at night to go into the beds.

Shelby, My favorite moment was right before we found out what was going on. The reasoning behind this is that it says that no one could have gotten in from the outside due to everything being bolted shut. My initial thought would not be about a snake coming in through the vent. I thought someone was behind this crime, and doing it themselves. Not using a snake. so it's my favorite part of the story because it's where my mind was able to think the most.

Bridget- My favorite moment was whenever they found out who did it. I would've never expected it to be a snake, that's something that would've never crossed my mind.

The Adventure of the Speckled Band is about a young woman named Helen Stoner who came to Sherlock grieving. She had a stepdad named Dr. Roylott, an exotic animal lover. Her sister, Julia Stoner, had died under strange circumstances by a snake. Her last words were "It was the Speckled Band!". When Sherlock goes to investigate, he finds that Julia's bed had been bolted to the floor and that no one could have opened the door from the outside. How could she have been killed? What is the Speckled Band? Well, there was a vent connecting Julia and Dr. Roylott's room. The snake had traveled through the vent and killed her, supposedly being the Speckled Band. She was killed for the money, with Helen being next.
