Middle Adulthood
The middle adults mostly have children who are teenagers or older. Some of them start becoming grandparents at this stage. Their children begin to seek independence as they stabilize financially and mentally. Because of this, these adults lose direct control over their children (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015).

Late Adulthood
Most have fully grown children by now. Most are grandparents or even great grandparents. Most people in this stage have children who are fully independent.

Middle Adulthood
This is a busy time in life and therefore not a time most people take to focus on looking at achievements, failures, successes or mistakes. People tend to just want to make corrections and move on to better things.

Late Adulthood
This tends to be a time when people do a lot of reflecting. The late adults have a higher ego integrity. They often reflect on their past experiences and either regret their mistakes or feel a sense of satisfaction from their achievements (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015).

Middle Adulthood
It is a possibility to experience a decline in intellectual ability in middle adulthood. However, it is just as likely to not experience any cognitive change at all.

Late Adulthood
Beyond the age of 60 years there can be significant decreases in the speed of processing information in the functioning of the brain. Therefore, it is highly likely that one would experience a decline in intellectual ability.

Middle Adulthood
Muscles begin to decline. Hair begins to grey and thin. Bone loss can occur. Wrinkles begin to form. Eyesight weakens. Medical health problems that never existed before may be diagnosed such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

Late Adulthood
In late adulthood, there is reduced functioning of the heart caused by the reduced capacity of the heart to pump blood through the circulatory system. This is caused by the hardening of the arteries and the shrinking of the blood vessels. Wrinkles and age spots tend to be more noticeable. The skin also loses its elasticity. The hair becomes thinner and greyer and there is yellowing of the teeth (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015).

Middle Adulthood
Life span reduces because of increase of chronic diseases. Cancer is a major cause of death in this stage. In the middle adulthood, the lifespan reduces because of threats from diseases. Most of these adults die of cancer than of chronic diseases (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015).

Late Adulthood
This lifespan is very short. Most adults die during this stage from low immunity and diseases.
