I used this image because i think the sadness represents woman oppression in the story of "Girl". It isn't advice, it's just a bunch of rules that overtake the main character. It's leaving her sad and to "be in the kitchen as a woman should be". This is too much of a stereotype that the story definitely creates an image for. So i chose this woman to represent contemplation i face when i think of not just women being oppressed, but also racism as well.

When i think of Trifles, i think of shattering glass. Sometimes there are things that push people over their limits and they eventually snap. plenty of times we see this in marriages where one spouse gets tired of the way the other is treating them. Trifles may represent that. Mrs. Wright may have been so sick of John Wright that she couldn't take it anymore and just decided to kill him. I used this video of shattering glass to represent Mrs. Wright shattering her emotions from a single action and going off the deep end.

The Yellow Wallpaper

The yellow wallpaper is a short story about a woman who suffers from a mentally unstable condition. For an entire summer, she fixates herself on ripping apart a rooms yellow wallpaper that holds a woman. The song Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd helps me visualize the struggles inside of this story and the satisfaction of overcoming the struggles. As the story relates to the song, they both start out slow, but the audience paying attention notices that the momentum of both the song and story both get faster and faster.

This picture shows a police crossing line that shows not to enter a house where a crime has been committed. I felt it to be fitting, since "Jury of Her Peers" is about a woman who more than likely killed her husband over an animal she kept as a pet.

Its the story about an unexpected from that a woman longs to gain for herself. She loves the freedom she gains but soon finds out that when her husband is still alive, she cant stand the idea of not having that freedom anymore, and ends up being deceased in the process of mourning her once gained freedom. This picture symbolized the idea that once a plane takes off, it could easily crash unless absolutely everything goes right for itself.

The Lesson

The Lesson is a story about inequality between the lower and upper class of society, where a teacher takes her students to a wealthy area of a city where the kids are astonished by the prices in the shops. The narrator begins to get angry by the pricing in the shops. The child cant understand why, but it suggests to the reader that the child is beginning to understand social inequality. This picture of an angry man clearly depicts this, anger. Except there isn't anything anyone can do, except change the circumstances they are in.

Battle Royal is similar to 'The Lesson' in the sense that they both have an underlying theme of inequality. Except in Battle Royal, racial inequality is the theme. The story of a boy who only longs to give his high school speech ends up having to fight his classmates in a boxing ring. After fighting, the boy boldly steps back into the ring to give his speech only to be mocked at by white grown men while giving it. When i think of this, i think of Jesus. Now, im not relating anything or anyone to Jesus, im just saying the context is similar. Jesus was hated for doing absolutely nothing. This boy was mocked and spit at for doing absolutely nothing, except being black.

In Everyday use, we could easily assume the story is about an ungrateful girl and a blanket. But what so possible with this story is the compare and contrast application between the sisters. We see a dualistic relationship between a modest, humble daughter and a greedy, self centered daughter (Maggie). I like to think of blue and red. Blue and red have always been seen as opposites on on different spectrums, just like the sisters.

Its difficult at first to understand what the author is saying in the poem. But i do believe he is speaking about a concept called "colletive conscience". Its the idea that he himself has had experiences from his ancestors. He speaks about his ancestors in the congo, in the nile, and in New Orleans. The migration, the culture, and atmosphere all play into this poem. Thats why when i think of this poem, i think of the song "Rivers and Roads" by My Head is an Animal.

Any wa you look at this poem, its dark, negative, and non-energetic. It faces a problem, which is failed, deferred dreams. The poem itself is entirely just a series of rhetorical questions. But the questions being asked do not refer to the dream succedding, but being changed, twisted, morphed, or just failing. I like to think about Death Cab for Cutie's song "I Will Follow You into the Dark".

The Things They Carried is a story of men in the military and the emotional baggage they carried while being away at war. The story differs from POV and the thoughts and item sentiment that each character cherished. Again, I think of JEsus. He carried SO much baggage and sin that he actually sweat blood. Its amazing to think that the same emotional baggage i think i'm obliged to carry has already been carried. I wish more people would understand why i think this way.

Death of a Salesman describes the isntability and collapse of the American dream family and the bitterness that cliche holds. When i think of this story, and Willy Loman specifically, i think of the song "In The morning Linda Dies" by Paleo because of the expectation of death OR the expectation of bad news or negative events.
