Teacher protests have influenced and assessed the strengths of this lobby within American politics. Protests that occur require a large enough group to become a lobby to speak out on this issue. In the U.S. these protests have significantly heightened education within districts and regarding funding/ pay. They also bring attention to large issues within schools that seem unfair while benefiting both student's and teacher's education. Policy change and public awareness also play a giant role, with immediate shifts within states and challenges teachers face. West Virginia and Oklahoma have experienced significant pay raises due to the protests. Strengths as these strikes have continued created a sense of unity across districts/ states with visibility in high-profile protests spreading to media and laying down pressure on lawmakers.(https://www.vox.com/2018/4/13/17226654/teacher-strike-west-virginia-oklahoma-arizona-2018)

Teacher protests have influenced and assessed the weaknesses of this lobby within American politics. Political separation also affects these. Separate opinions and reactions come to light. There are also short-term fixes lawmakers put into action allowing teachers to have higher benefits for a small amount of time creating only temporary solutions. While protests occur, resource distribution is also a major issue hence that certain states or regions are barely affected or in uneven amounts.

One specific policy outcome that can be traced to lobbying within teacher protests was the increased funding for public schools in 2018 in West Virginia. It brought out low salaries and insufficient funds/ resources provided in schools regarding student's education. The state concluded with a 5% raise in pay for educators and brought up funding which controlled the direct influence that teacher advocacy within the state's education policy. https://participedia.net/case/8086
