The piece is meant to display the metaphor: "The White Teeth of The Crocodile Are Like Daggers". This was taken on the first day of work, the piece itself has come much further.

This is my piece on its second to last day of work. I tried my hardest to bring out the color blue, as it's the main color of this piece. I've currently only used colored pencil in an attempt to keep the piece simple and cost

Death & Beauty in the Flame

This is the first piece of my Junior year in high school. I was inspired by the old metaphor; "The Crocodiles Teeth are like Shinning White Daggers". The concept may be hard to see, but it's there. As a child, we are all dazzled and tempted by the beautiful fire on top the candle, not knowing how lethal it really is. The metaphor speaks of how beauty kills, and a flame to a child is the perfect real life version of this metaphor. In order to create this piece, I had to look inside and observe what inspired me from this old metaphor. I had to use both Prisma-color and Crayola brand coloring pencils and 80 pound paper to make my piece. Now that I'm reflecting on this piece, I'm very proud of what I was able to accomplish with such simple, low cost materials. There were times when I would become absolutely frustrated with the shading and shaping of my imagery, but with some advice and determination I managed to engage and persist in order to complete my piece.
