This unit aims to introduce you to different ways in which collaborative practice can focus and enhance your own 

creative strengths through working towards shared a goal.  

This Unit has three core purposes: 

• To engage with fellow students with different practices and interests in a collaborative project towards a shared Outcome, while developing your design skills. 

• To engage with external audiences, participants, or institutions outside the course to consider new contexts 

in which to activate your practice. 

• To develop your teams and creative attributes to enable you to take on future challenges in a variety of contexts. 

The ability to collaborate with others, create networks and develop and contribute to communities of practice is the 

emphasis of this unit. This will involve teamwork, engaging in dialogue and leadership.

Your PDF should be a written reflection (1500 - 2000  words) on the nature and importance of collaboration, informed by your experience in this unit.

It is not a diary of what happened during Part 1 or Part 2, nor a description of your design project. Instead, it should focus on reflecting on key points of your experience and on  how you have improved—or will/could improve—as a team member in a design project.

If you are unsure, please read again the PArt 3 Briefing. 

Please remember: 

• Visuals/Diagrams should have a reason to include them! 

  Your visuals/diagrams and text should be aligned, and any diagrams or images should support your writing by providing additional relevant information. Please do not include diagrams simply because they appeared in the  examples we gave or because someone else did it—focus on what is necessary for your reflection.

• Referencing / Bibliography. 

  Include a bibliography listing what  you have read or watched that is relevant to this project. Also, reference any information you used—whether as a direct quote, paraphrased idea, or source mentioned in your text. Use Harvard referencing style.  Remember to reference any work not generated by you. 

• Use  AI at a tool:

  AI should only be used only  as a tool, such as for  proofreading, translating  and improving syntax. Do not use it to generate content for you. If you used it you need  to reference how and where you used it. 

• Avoid Generic Statements:
  Move away from vague reflections. For example, instead of saying:
  ✖ "In the future, I will improve my communication techniques."

  ✔ Be specific: "In the future, I will improve my communication techniques by actively summarising discussions during meetings and seeking direct feedback from my teammates to ensure clarity."

• Write Clearly—Not Overly Complex:

  Do not overcomplicate or try to overcomplicate your writing with unnecessary formal or "flowery" language unless you are confident in using it effectively. Keep your writing clear and direct, with good syntax, but focus on what you want to say rather than choosing fancy words to say it. You are being assessed on your ideas, not your English writing skills.

• Your submission must be a PDF — any other format will result in an

automatic fail.

(If you have facing pages, export/print as a spread.)

• Your PDF must include the word count:

1500–2000 words (with a ±10% allowance).

This does not include references, bibliography, or captions.

• The PDF is not a description of your collaboration or your design

project.

It should directly address the Learning Outcomes — please check them carefully.

• Any work that is not your own must be fully referenced.

Include a Reference List / Bibliography in Harvard style.
