I don't think that the author portrayed the characters because, in the film it says that "Couldn't the thread have turned black in the sun" (because Tom had played hooky with his Aunt Polly) and I searched through the book and I couldn't find that comment. Also in the film it shows Tom hiding from his Aunt behind the door because he wasn't there when everyone else was and I also didn't see that in the book . To Conclude I think that Mark Twain didn't portray the story and the film correctly because the text and the acting weren't the same.

Yes, I do think that the director accurately portrayed Aunt Polly because of the dialouge and actions she has in the video. For example, Aunt Polly kept on fussin about Tom and acted very angry towards him. Also, when Aunt Polly and Tom we're sitting at the table Aunt Polly asked him a lot of suspicious questions like "It was rather warm in school" and "Did you want to go swimming?". In addition, Aunt Polly reached out and felt the collar of Tom's shirt and said, "You're not warm now.", "If you pumped your head then you didn't have to unbutton your shirt.", and "I'm sure you play hooky at school and went swimming.". Overall, I can tell that the director portrayed Aunt Polly as being very suspicious about Tom playing hooky, like in the book, and showing that while she was mad at him , and by showing that she smacked Tom on his behind, she was still hurting on the inside. The director also showed me how he/she could capture the whole idea of what I was trying to portray of Aunt Polly. Like the director I used very similar d

I believe the director accurately portrayed Aunt Polly with her words, actions, thoughts, and appearance. For example, in the book Aunt Polly tested Tom to see if he lied about going to school and that was in the video. As well as using clothes that reflected that time period. The director also included the scene when Aunt Polly was looking at the threading when Sid pointed it out. In conclusion, the Director accurately portrayed Aunt Polly.

I think that the director did not accurately portrayed the characters because I think he did not use enough 3rd person ominous too much to help me explain more about each character. The author did portrayed the character but in my opinion not too much. The author could have portrayed the character every chance so that we can have a better understanding of the character without inferring. When aunt Polly said that I thought tom played hookey and she thought she was correct, we could have seen more action to understand how each character feels deeply and why she or he is doing this. Another opera unity for the author could have use to portray the characters was when Sid said "didn't you sew his collar white? Look, it's black! We had to infer what Sid wanted to do. We could infer that he wanted tom to get caught and get in trouble, or he wanted to tell aunt Polly the truth.in the movie, it said some of the things the book didn't have and vise Versa, I thought the book had better portrayed the characters more than the movie.

In the video Toms hair was also wet and his collar was undone. In the book when Aunt Polly asked Tom why his hair was wet he responded "some of us pumped on our heads - mines damp yet , see . For example, in the video, Aunt Polly had to feel Tom's hands to see if he washed them but in the book there is no evidence that she did that. In the video when Aunt Polly found out that Tom's shirt was in a different color thread than she sewed it with (because of Sid), she grabbed Tom by his ear and told him to go upstairs. In the book, Aunt Polly only yelled at Tom and told him to go upstairs. Lastly, in the video when Aunt Polly hits Tom, there is no evidence that Aunt Polly hits him in the book. That is why I think that the director did not accurately portray Aunt Polly.

I do not think the director accurately portrayed the characters in Twain's book. In the film, there were events that did not happen in the book. For example, Aunt Polly seems strict after being told by Sid that Tom's shirt was a different color thread. In the book, this event did not happen. Aunt Polly was looking for Tom, finding him stealing jam. In the book and the film, Tom did get into trouble but that happened in different ways. Also the director did not add any thoughts of how the characters are feeling or thinking. In the book, it seems as though Aunt Polly is struggling to take care of Tom but she is trying her best. For example, she tries to look for her nephew but isn't successful because she got fooled by him. In the film, we do not know how she is thinking or feeling. The film only shows Aunt Polly asking Tom questions, and more. This isn't showing the thoughts and feelings of the characters which does not show much 3rd person omniscient view. Twain makes sure he shows the actions, thoughts, and feelings of all characters. The director of the movie just basically shows the storyline of Tom Sawyer. That is why the director did not accurately portray the characters in Tom Sawyer.

For example, Aunt Polly was portrayed accurately. But Tom isn't portrayed as well for instance, in the movie when Tom isn't home at the same time as his siblings. he sneaks in while his friend distracts Aunt Polly. This event didn't take place in the text. But Aunt Polly was portrayed correctly and accurately in the text Aunt Polly asks Tom, " Didn't you want to go in a-swimming, Tom?" They say the same sentence in the movie. Sid also pointed out the thread in both the movie and the book .The director also pointed out Aunt Polly's attitude, actions , dialogue , and speech.

In the book, Mark Twain gave a lot of details that show the emotions and thoughts of the characters, and those same emotions were shown in the film when the characters said their lines and showed their emotions in their faces, so that the people watching it could see what they are feeling. The feelings portrayed in the film were the same feelings as the ones in the book . For example, in the book, The narrator tells us that Tom was sneaky and played hooky instead of going to school, and in the film, he had a sneaky look on his face that showed he didn't go to school.

Yes and no. I do think so becasue the aunt polly in the book says the same quotes just like in the book. another reason is they both use the same felings and thoughts of tom. In the story he is tricky, smart, and a troublemaker, also that mans he is tricky making the boy trick aunt polly in to talk to him so tom can get by.Another reason he is is smart going down the poll but end up getting in trouble.I do not think they wer related because aunt polly wasnt as vicious as she was in the book. This shows a whole different character in aunt polly and mabey even changes the story because a lot of it matters of aunt polly getting hurt herself hitting or slaping him. This is why i think the dirctor did and did not accurately potrey the characters.

The director portrayed Aunt Polly through the actor's actions and words. For example when Tom got back from playing hookie , he lied and said he didn't and when he thought he got away with it he put a smirk on his face. Which is saying that Tom is slick. Also, when the little boy tattle-taled on Tom Aunt Polly grabed him by the ear and smaked him on the head. Tom was mad with anger and tried to escape frome his bedroom but Aunt Polly was wise really wise and caught him sneaking out smaked him on the but and he crawled back up to his room.
