1. Genius Hour: (Individual Activity)

Each student in the group will design a musical instrument including “sea” materials or traditional items or both. You will upload your  Picture with musical instrument here. (November coloumn) writing your name / country / city /school. (ex: Ella / Rose’s team / France / College Cite)   You can upload only one Picture or you can make a collage with many pictures if you like. 

2. Collaborative Work: Each student will write a sentence using the given Web 2.0 tool. (MeetingWord : You will use a pad text and this pad text is synchronized as you type, so that everyone viewing this page sees the same text.)  This allows you to collaborate seamlessly on documents! The song should be about sea, sea love, sea creatures, sea life, Mediterrenean! The last step of the November activity will be to perform this song playing musical instruments and singing your song. ( To do this activity, you should be in touch with the team members tighly and communicate well) At the end of the activity each team should have a song! 

In Greek mythology Elpis was an ancient seaman from Samos.

At one time Elpis began to explore the unknown continents of the African continent. During his journey he landed on a shore and decided to explore the inland. Entering a forest, he met a lion roaring, and Elvis fearlessly climbed a tree and cried out to Bacchus.

. With the help of the god the lion calmed down and rested quietly under the tree, Elpis then saw that there was a bone in his mouth and approaching his lion he pulled it out. Later the lion killed an animal and brought it to Elpis's crew to eat it, showing his gratitude

 

When Elpis returned to Samos he dedicated dedications to the temple of Dionysus Bacchus, during Pliny's day a fresco painting depicting Elpis on the tree and at the root of the tree the lion.

In 1503, he fought in Corsica in the service of the Genoese Navy, at that time under the French vassalage, and he took part in the rising of Genoa against the French, whom he forced to leave the city. From that time onwards, he became famous as a naval commander. For several years he scoured the Mediterranean in command of the Genoese fleet. He conducted a  war against the Corsairs, defeating them in the little Island of Pianosa . 

What did he do for Genoa? Andrea Doria was among the greatest generals and admirals of his time; he was at the service of Pope Innocent VII, Emperor Charles V, Ferdinand king of Naples, and his son Alfonso II.

We still have highschool named “Andrea D’oria” in Genoa and we can still admire Andrea Doria’s Palace, called “the Prince Palace”. Photo by Fabiola Elle
