         <description><![CDATA[<p>Geographic Information systems are integrated software packages for the input management,
analysis, and display of spatial information. Used to manage geographic data.</p>

<p>Adding or removing layers can manipulate GIS maps. Layers can be hidden, the projection
can be changed, the tie points can be changed, and the scale can be changed. A GIS map is built so it can adapt to a particular purpose. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>GPS is the satellite navigation system that is used to compute the exact latitude and longitude position of any place on Earth. It's created by the United States government and it was created in the mid-1980s. GPS is able tell the location of the car, then the OnStar unit in the car sends an emergency message to the nearest center and sends them a message which tells OnStar what happened. A member of On Star then calls you’re the cellular phone in your car, and if no one answers then On Star will contact the nearest emergency services. 24 satellites are needed for a GPS unit to work. <span style="font-size: 13px;">GPS determines locations as latitude </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">and longitude positions and able to store waypoints and tell you the distance </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">and direction of a waypoint from your current position. More complex group </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">combines GPS capability with interactive map databases which shows your location </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">to landmarks. A marine navigation gathers information about water depths with </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">port locations and other marine navigation aids. The OnStar system is used on </span><span style="font-size: 13px;">intercity trucks, which sends the truck’s location back to the office. </span></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>RADAR-SAT is a satellite launched by the Canadian Space Agency November 4,1995. The RADAR-SAT uses SAR technology which allows it to see in the dark,look beyond clouds and can even see through fog, this machine also operates day and night and operates regardless of weather condition. These images are useful to Fisheries and Oceans and such as they harsh fog and weather make directing the fishing vessels around the ice very hard but from a satellite it would be much easier to monitor the movement of the ice caps. As RADAR-SAT maps clear positions of the ice distributions, Canadian fishing vessels can travel safely. RADAR-SAT can also measure ocean winds and waves, this makes the Canadian Coast Guard very well prepared for oncoming waves and dangerous situations. The RADAR-SAT is very helpful in many other countries as well as to Canada, such as helping countries monitor food growth.</p>]]></description>
