Turkey’s climate is temperate, they experience hot and dry summers with mild and wet winters, which are harsher in the interior of the country. To me, their climate sounds similar to ours. The terrain of Turkey consists of a high central plateau (Anatolia), a narrow coastal plain, and several mountain ranges. The capital city of Turkey is Ankara.

The area of Turkey is about 302,535 square miles so it is the 38th largest country in area. Turkey is most comparable in size to Alaska, Alaska is about 270,000 square miles total. The reason why I chose this country was stated in the introduction. Elia Kazan was born on September 7, 1909 and died on September 28, 2003 at age 94, he was a Greek-American film and stage director known for many hit plays and movies at that time, he was one of many in history who influenced this type of art.

Ruins of the Roman Senate (Odeon, or small theater) in Ephesus. The city, on the west coast of Asia Minor, was originally Greek, but later became part of the Roman Empire. In Roman times it had a population estimated between 250 and 500 thousand, making it one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean world. Ephesus was partially destroyed by an earthquake in A.D. 614. The city's harbor thereafter slowly silted up causing its commercial importance to decline.
