"We are not about to send American boys nine or ten thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves." October.21.1964
L.B.J. was very sure of himself in this statement, that he completely changes less than a year later. I The meaning of this quote is that it was up to the south Vietnamese to defend themselves from the North and America should not have to get involved.
"We do this (escalating U.S. military involvement in Vietnam) in order to slow down aggression. We do this to increase the confidence of the brave people of South Vietnam who have bravely born this brutal battle for so many years with so many casualties..."
In this quote Lyndon Johnson is saying we need more American soldiers in the field in Vietnam less than a year after he says that the war should have not U.S. involvement
This is a huge change of opinion considering he is completely reversing what he said before.
"I am not going to lose Vietnam. I am not going to be the president who saw South East Asia go the way China went."
The validity of this quote is very weak because not only is what he saying later proven not be factual but it was also personal and not political, he didn't want to be the president to lose so he is ignoring how many men are being killed or injured.

"I refuse to believe that a little fourth-rate power like North Vietnam doesn't have a breaking point." - National Security Adviser Henry Kissinger
believes that there is a weak spot within Vietnam as long as they keep fighting they will eventually win.

"You have a row of dominoes set up; you knock over the firsts one, and what will happen to the last one is that it will go over quickly" - president Dwight D. Eisenhower
- President Dwight D. Eisenhower is saying that if you can overcome one obstacle the rest will go down with it.

"We seem bent upon saving the Vietnamese from ho Chi Minh, even if we have to kill them and demolish their country to do it... I do not intend to remain silent in the face of what I regard as a policy of madness which, sooner or later, will envelop my son and American youth by the millions for years to come." - Senator George McGovern
George McGovern felt that the practices of the war were doing more harm then good and too many innocent people were dying.
