Student Reflection #2 - PERSEVERANCE - What is one piece of work that you found rather challenging? Why? How did you PERSEVERE in order to be successful? (5-8 sentences in English)

Perhaps the most challenging piece of work was the passe compose. Last year, I had lost much of my confidence in my ability to write in French because of the difference between learning style and teaching style. I persevered from lack of confidence in French, especially the passe compose. While I still struggle with grammar in French, occasionally, I have improved greatly my confidence in myself with the practice we have done in class.

Student Reflection #3 - PARTICIPATION - How has learning a world language helped you to understand your unique role as a global citizen? In the future, how will your language skills facilitate your active PARTICIPATION in a multicultural society? (5-8 sentences in English)

Learning French has taught me that there are other cultures in the world. Of course, that has always been known for me, but learning French and learning about the culture solidifies this fact. The French do some things completely different then Americans, and that is to be expected, but understanding there are differences from your culture and the world is very important to be a global citizen. With this solidified knowledge I am able to look at all persepectives of global issues, sympathize with different people from different countries when tragedy strikes, and so much more. In the future, my language skills will facilitate my active participation in a multicultural society greatly because of where I am planning on travelling and what I want to do. As someone who plans on spending her life giving back to the world, knowing another language allows me to be able to communicate with others whom I will be helping. Not to mention that if I do travel for my own leisure, knowing another language and not expecting people to just understand English is very polite and considerate, shining a positive light on Americans.

Student Work Reflection #1: PASSION - What is one piece of work that you feel best demonstrates the PASSION that you have for (insert name of language here)? Why? (5-8 sentences in English)

The piece of work which I believe demonstrates the passion I have for French would be the first ever writing assessment we had in class. This written test where I was asked to show my understanding of how to describe time, school days, and hobbies. This best demonstrates my passion for French because of my effort in writing my mock response to the prompt, asking multiple questions on how I can improve my writing, and going above and beyond when writing the mock by trying grammar and using words we had not used in class, I had just tried on my own. Because of this, I demonstrate that even outside of the classroom I worked hard to elaborate and expand my skills outside of what was learned in class. I am passionate about French and this best shows that.
