If I were a book, I'd be a fantasy novel—the spine may be weathered but unbroken, creased by chapters of joy, heartbreak, and everything in between. I may appear understated—perhaps a bit worn—but there is an intriguing quality about me that encourages a closer look. I'm Cicel Alidon Rodriguez. I was born in Calajo-an, Minglanilla, Cebu, but we resided in my father's birthplace almost 10 years ago. I could not remember how I started my journey here. I was just in my adolescent years at that time: careless, in need of guidance, and happy-go-lucky.

I studied my elementary education at Calajo-an Elementary School. As mentioned in my previous statement, I did not grow up in Asturias, where we are currently living. After I graduated from grade school, I moved to Langub, Asturias, together with my parents. My mother enrolled me in Looc Norte National High School, where I learned the importance of friendship and how it should function. The following years were not so smooth sailing, yet full of memories I could boast of. Then, the pandemic happened, a sudden and tragic event that was not seen ahead—a shock to all of us, I suppose. But life goes on. During the post-pandemic, I enrolled in Buanoy National High School, where I studied Senior High School. High School was the longest journey, yet worth the hassle.

Finally, in my college life. I am now a 2nd-year student of Civil Engineering at Cebu Technological University, Tuburan Campus. A proud technologist.

INTERESTS AND HOBBIES, AND PROUD MOMENTS

Oh, how I love to be a woman full of interest. I'm a book dragon; I love collecting books for my own interest. I got 40 books and 15 e-books. I'm just a girl, prone to boredom. That is why I started my nature trip; this is a different interest. I traveled to various places with my family and my boyfriend, but I usually go on trips with him. Who wouldn't enjoy traveling with their boyfriend, especially when he takes care of everything, allowing us to relax and do nothing? Aside from trips and reading and collecting books, I usually sing at home. Whenever I feel like I'm channeling my inner Sarah G, I sing all my favorite songs with all my heart. I know it might come off as a bit strange. But what else can I do if it brings me joy, right? I also love movies. Have you watched Pride and Prejudice and the television series Anne with an E? You should watch them; they are a good adaptation. Lastly, I also find myself dancing spontaneously. It might be a seasonal hobby. I admire Jungkook of BTS and Ken Suson of SB19; they are fine dancers for me. I am delusional that maybe someday, I will meet them in an unanticipated place and time. Is being delusional a hobby, though? Because I could include them in my list.

My proudest moment is that I don't let anyone influence me in a short video clip telling about how things should and should not be. In today's world and weird normalization, I could say being far different from them and not riding on what's trending makes me quite peaceful and proud. I often received opinions about the way I dealt with things and my personality toward people. But I know myself better than others, and I always value uniqueness.

I have to say, family is often your greatest inspiration; they will always hold a special place on the list, regardless of how long it may be. Most of us have someone to look up to, and so do I. My influence, aside from my family (including my boyfriend), is Jane Austen. The English novelist in the 18th century—I am fond of her writings, especially her Pride and Prejudice. She is my reason behind all my dreams of going to England and living there. I dream of playing archery and watching F1 races. So, I want to be all that rich Civil Engineer yet grounded. Maybe exposing my F1 fan side is a little bit unexpected; I look just like a worm of a book.
