Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq means to me is that we have to respect our land by not leaving and putting garbages where they have to go, for this practicum, we havent really been to the land but we spent our outdoors at the playground and going for walks with the infants. But i always try and remember to bring garbages with me and put them in the garbage when im out on the land. Being at each practicum since last year, we have never really went anywhere for outdoor play other then the playground that they have outside the facility. There was always a hanging garbage bag where i worked this summer and they would throw the garbage away end of the week or when it gets full, children knew where it has to go and not just leave it outside.

Avatittinnik kamatsiarniq (respect for the land) by respecting the land is to not leave garbage on the ground and keep it clean so the land can breath too as it is alive as will. How can it guide my work?

It would guide my work by acknowledging the children that the land we live in is part of us and we need to keep it clean encourage the children that every garbage need to go in the bag. Put some signs up with picture in the picture would be children around the trash can and hold a garbage and placing it in the can.

Avatittinnik Kamatsiarniq means to me that we have to respect our land and our environment. I never really experience outdoor play with my current practicum but knowing the IQ Principles, Avatittinnik kamatsiarniq is really important because we really have to look after our land - our environment. Keeping our land (Environment) clean is really important because we also have to show respect for animals that lives on our nuna/imaq. We must show children the values of IQ Principles and how important they are for Inuit. All this will guide my work by encouraging children to clean up after their mess, the IQ principles can improve self awareness, especially if you teach children that surrounds you. Most daycares that I have been to have all the IQ principles posted on their walls. In some daycares, they have Inuit with knowledge who can teach children about how important it is to use these principles and I am going to do that when I start working.

Rosalynn
