at ACST. We were in class together for 7th and 8th grade. What I remember most about him was that he was always happy and such a positive person. I don't think I ever once heard him complain! His kindness rubbed off on everyone around him and we are all better people for having known him. My heart breaks for his family. RIP Pablo!

I remember passing by him down the halls or seeing him during recess. Even at such a young age he always seemed to carry a calm and peaceful demeanor. Also this might seem silly but his name always carried a nice ringtone to it for me... it was one of the names despite from very long ago that I never forgot. The kids of Thamesmead had not seen anything like it before, and he soon won them over. I also seem to remember a cult like obsession among female staff with his hair and how he got it so smooth and shiny. For the record he was also a great teacher and inspired many children with his real world experience, and a great colleague with whom I enjoyed sharing the highs and lows of teaching. Five years later when I was working at Teach for All and we were recruiting someone to support South American partners I got in touch to find him on a crazy cycling trip (which I soon learned was one of many). I'll always remember Pablo's combination of fun and seriousness that he took his work as a teacher and later as one of the early staff at Teach For All where it was my privilege to get to know him better. In those early days of TF (especially in 2004!), we hardly had any idea of what we were doing and I remember Pablo always giving great feedback in a supportive, kind but also pointed way on how we could improve our work for teachers and ultimately the young people he cared so much about. (He also participated in some of the great parties that year that bring great memories.) I remember thinking that Teach First would have a great future if we could recruit such great people as teachers. I was excited when he joined Teach For All as an early staff member, thinking his was just the perspective and mindset that would be so helpful for the new network. My deepest sympathies go to his entire family. A really great guy lost who will be missed.

My favourite memory of him is of when we were all teenagers at an Oxfam party at frideswides farm (an old manor house in Oxford). Pablo, Juan, my sister Saskia and I were playing pictionary in the small front room on the stone floor next to the enormous TV that was so old it didn't even have a remote.

Pablo and I were on a team, Saskia and Juan were on the other, there may have been more people playing but for Pablo and I our mission became clear.... Destroy our sibling opponents!!! Through this I got to see the wonderful playful side to Pablo rather than just my friend's smart older brother. Happy to say we did beat our siblings and a real moment of joy for both of us came when I drew a squiggle and Pablo guessed webbed feet to which Juan let out a loud exasperated 'come on, you've got to be kidding!'

However, in general when I think of him, I think of him as one half of a dynamic duo with Juan being the other half. I was locking up my bike which I had bought for £50 a few years before. Then Pablo arrived on his bike, probably worth a hundred times more, and we just walked to have a shower and get changed. Why should I lock my bike? I believe people are good. Pablo was incredibly strong and he had this lightness of being which made him so special. He was full of wisdom but he did not take life too seriously. He accomplished so much while enjoying life fully. What a joy it was to have a glass of wine and chat with him. Such a special, kind, inspiring person. I miss Pablo a lot. He lives on in Ernie - and in some small way, in all of us whose lives were touched by him in such a positive way. Much love,

I’ll remember him for many things, specially our shared interests in education, good food, and love for the Colombia football team. Estoy adolorida pensar que Ernie no lo va a tener en su vida. Pablo fue una bella persona en todo sentido. The crew bonded together and looked out for and after each other. It was only days into the trip that Pablo told us he was riding with his extra baggage. The strength and determination he showed was inspiring. He pedalled the lot with this big grin on his face. Not least 3 times up Mont Ventoux in one day. It was a privilege to spend those days in his company and keep track of his progress on Strava until things fell silent. Pablo was visiting Australia back in 2015. It was raining but we decided to take Pablo and Juan for a mountain bike ride. We rode about 20kms through the Bush in Sydney. Pablo and Juan loved it. We had such a fun time. The photo we have was taken by Pablo, he managed to get the phone to balance on one of the seats of the bicycles. I remember Ingrid calling us like where are you guys because we were gone for so long! We had so much fun. I am so great full for these memories.
