Watching 'How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)' in German with English Subtitles

I watched this series on Netflix in German (its original recorded language) with English subtitles to help me understand everything that was being said. I found it really enjoyable to watch as a series too. 

I did find a lot of the time that I knew many of the words that were being spoken, and I could understand what was being said a lot of the time too. This task also helped me to learn about how German teenagers/young adults use the language, and I found that a lot of words used in the series were 'borrowed' from the English language.

25 Useful Everyday Phrases

I watched this video to find some extra vocabulary that we hadn't learnt in our lectures. I found these phrases really useful to learn as they are great for everyday conversation.

There were a few phrases in here that we did learn in the lectures, for example the use of Frühstück and Aufstehen, so this video also allowed me to revise a little bit of the vocabulary we learnt in class.

Conversation with my Mum

My mum lived in Germany for 10 years and she can speak the language well. We had a conversation lasting around 30 minutes where I practiced introducing myself, where I lived, what I study, and we also practiced making plans and talking about our likes and dislikes. I had my lecture notes in-front of me to help me incase I forgot any vocabulary. 

Doing this exercise also helped me with my pronunciation.

Practicing 'Time Manner Place'

I used this guide to help me with sentence structure, and using the order of 'time, manner, place' to create more complex sentences. I thought this guide was simple and easy to understand as it is aimed at GCSE students. Practice using modal verbs

I used this revision guide to practice using müssen, können, wollen, sollen, dürfen, and mögen. We didn't do all of these verbs in class too, but I remembered some of them from GCSE, so I enjoyed revisiting this, and learning how to use these different verbs. 

Towards the end of the exercise there were a few tenses such as the past tense and conditional tense which we had not covered in class yet. I did have a read through this though and I did find it interesting to see how the verb was conjugated differently.

Following this, I will practice using these modal verbs in sentences to express what I can do and what I like to do, ready for the speaking and written exam.

Practicing the 'Perfect Tense' using Haben und Sein

I watched this video to help me with my understanding of the perfect tense using haben and sein. I did think this video was really helpful and clear with its explanation. I also found it useful that the video showed you how to use questions in the perfect tense, as well as using modal verbs and separable verbs in this format.

Following watching this video, I wrote some practice sentences to make sure I was using the past tense correctly. Revising and practicing the Alphabet in German

I found this youtube video really helpful for learning the German pronunciation of the alphabet, as the video also writes out the phonetic pronunciation of the letters. Separable Verbs - Practice

I spent some extra time revising separable verbs, and the correct sentence structure when using them.

which helped me revise how to correctly use separable verbs. I then wrote practice sentences using the exercises at the bottom.
