-reports from sister, - that before war was ok- impact of shell shock
-health generally broke down= increasingly worsening
-mentally very difficult to prove there was an issue
- treatment of soldiers= massive expansion of bureaucracy and medicalised language= sheer quanitiy of paper work
-everyone must be understood within this scientific framework
-becomes a subject and case rather than a person
- does't respond to questioning, sits around all day = descriptions of damaged individuals- attempts to understand
-trench foot, mustard gas= lung issues
-disability isn't permanent- will only last 6 months, then back to work
- first war that they encountered this sort of disease
