Gender- a social construct pertaining to traits associated with sex (9/20). A social construct pertaining to an individuals identity based on characteristics of masculinity and femininity (11/24)
Sexual Orientation- determined by what sex/es one is attracted to (9/20). An individual's attraction to others that exists on a continuum with one end being only opposite sex and the other end being only same sex (11/24)
Social Justice- fair distribution of wealth, opportunities, and privileges; fair treatment of groups and individuals by society (10/6). Ensuring individuals recieve what they are due and are treated fairly by society (11/20)
Race- a social, not biological, construct used to group people together who share physical characteristics (9/27). A social construct used to make distinctions between and to categorize people based on physical characteristics (11/24)
Racism- discrimination toward a race, usually based on believing one race is superior to another/others (9/27). Prejudice or discrimination towards another race or races based on differences and beliefs of racial superiority (11/24)
Institutional racism- racism expressed through rules in institutions: schools, government, military, etc. (10/6). Racism expressed through social and political institutions: employment, housing, healthcare, education, etc. (11/24)
Systemic racism- racism rooted in the core of society (10/6). Racism rooted in each of society's major parts; Institutions, policies, practices, etc. that deny people of color resources and power that is given to others (11/20)
Diversity- differences in race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation (10/6). Variety of different types of people; the way people are different in groups; the way groups of people differ (11/20)
