A good read if you want to learn about the Spanish Civil War. This is the story of how a journalist delves into the life of Sánchez Mazas, writer and Falangist. Not only is it the story of a war, but the characters and their experiences are written in such a raw way that you are transported back to the 1930s.

It is very likely that, as students of English Studies, you have already read this book. I read it when it was not yet compulsory to read books and write commentaries on them, so I enjoyed it very much. It's a story full of puns, witty and humour. It tells the story of Elizabeth and her family and how first impressions can be deceiving. Both 1995 and 2005 film versions, are awesome (but Team Colin Firth Forever <3).

As a woman, I do not really know why I keep reading these kind of books, but, hey, sometimes a girl has to follow the mainstream. It is probable that you have seen this book in many places, as it has become a worldwide bestseller. The writing style is not the best, but the story is catchy. Guilty pleasure, I guess...
