"EARTH SONG" by Michael Jackson

"Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores"

"Earth song" by Michael Jackson shows how the earth used to look and how it looks now and the impact of humans caused it to change form. wars have messed up peoples lives like in a town it showed it was devastated from a war that broke out. It also showed what would happen if humans would stop fighting and it would be better. also it showed how people dont even leave the environment alone like for example it showed how people cut down trees and how they kill animals like elephants and how other people also start to suffer from the after effects. It also talks about how people the take advantage of the earth and dont realize how bad they are hurting the earth.

"The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it"

This is a quote from Thoreau talking about how if you want anything you are going to have to sacrifice other things for it. What this means is that if people want to transcend in there lives they are going to have sacrifice other worldly things like they are going to have separate themselves form things like work, electronics, etc. In the book " the night Thoreau spent in jail" he had said that people are slaves of there work like they have to sacrifice there entire day or time to getting up in the morning to make some money.

This image is what Thoreau was trying to embrace when was in the woods. He wanted to appreciate the beauty of nature and wanted to free himself and was just aiming for the over-soul. in order to achieve this he had to live off the grid and isolate himself from the rest of the world. The over-soul was the main goal for any transcendentalist who was trying their best to imitate Thoreau's methods and live off the grid.

The thing that this image is saying is that once you start living in the woods or start taking the first step to transcending will eventually become one with nature and start having self-reliance and not care what society has to say about them because they cant be moved by what they have to say about them and this is the end result.

" DO OT GO WHERE THE PATH MAY LEAD, GO INSTEAD WHERE THERE IS NO PATH AND LEAVE A TRAIL".

This is quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson and what he is trying to say is that when you trying to achieve a goal don't do the same thing that someone did, go and reach it by your own methods and not by someone else. This is how a person can truly transcend by being a nonconformity type of person and just let go of how other people think and do. That is how Emerson got to teach people at Harvard.
