I rushed through the folded doors of the hall. I stared at the dim corridor and screamed, "Helloooooo!". My own echoes reverberated along the corridor. I fished out my handphone from my pocket and called my mother frantically. No answer. I sprinted down the dark staircase to the staff room. Through the glass door, I realised that the staff room's lights were all off and there was no teacher in sight. Fear gripped me. I sat in a heap and started crying.

I got out of bed in excitement. I was on cloud nine. I sprinted to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, showered and got dressed as fast as lightning. I jumped down the stairs, two at a time and ran to the kitchen. My breakfast of sausage and scrambled egges was waiting for me on the kitchen counter. I devoured it like a hungry vulture. As I was gobbling down my food, mother entered the kitchen. "Happy birthday, love! Hurry and get ready for school. Make sure you invite everyone in your class for your birthday party next week!" said mother as she hugged me tightly. With my mouth, still full of food, I nodded and ran out the door like an excited puppy.

As I faced the bully with a thumping heart, the bully smirked, as if daring me to come at him. When I saw that, I broke into cold sweat. I rushed at him with the intent to hurt, only to get punched back like a ragdoll. I lunged at him again, but it was in vain. He grabbed me by the neck, pulling me back to the wall. I spluttered as I was unable to breathe. I was sure I would die when to my intense relief, a voice called out, "Hold it right there!" It was the disipline master.

I should not have played hide-and-seek with my friends. I was sure they had gone home when they could not find me. My phone's battery was dead, lights in the school were off and there was no one in sight, not even a security guard. I sat in a corner and curled up into a ball. I was shaking in fear as anxious thoughts overtook my mind. "Will I ever get out?" I whispered to myself. The thought of spending the weekend, trapped in school, sent a shiver down my spine.

Emily even spread a rumour that Sarah had stolen the pen from Emily, but no one believed that. After that, Emily felt guilty. She apologised to Sarah.

Sarah had accidentally fallen asleep in class. By the time she woke up, she was enveloped in darkness. Trembling in fear, she rummaged through her bag, looking for her handphone. To her dismay, the battery was dead. She ran out to the corridor and shouted, "Heeellloooooooo!" She did not know what to do and screamed for help. She tried every door, hoping it was unlocked but luck was not in her favour. Her anxiety increased and she began perspiring like crazy. She was beginning to lose hope when suddenly, she saw a silhouette of a person walking towards her. Shining his torchlight directly at her face, she squinted her eyes only to see the flash of his security badge on his uniform. "Sir! Help me! I'm locked out!" Sarah pleaded to the security guard.
