This 100 numbers game seemed very easy at first. I thought immediately that simply coloring the boxes 1-100 would be easy, but it actually took more time than I expected. After realizing that it would take longer, the importance of working together and staying focused on the task at hand without looking at the time, made the second try much faster! There are many benefits of this game such as: learning to collaborate with a group, learning to keep focus on the task at hand, and challenging yourself to improve. Some drawbacks may be things such as: the students feeling bad for not finishing the board each time, multiple students trying to go at the same time because they forgot the order, or more than one student wanting to use the same color. Some other team building games may be things like: math bingo, basketball, card games and jeopardy.

The game appeared very simple but when we attempted to follow the directions as they appeared without any strategies, we barely touched the 40's. Looking at out first attempt we observed patterns from different angles and determined which one seemed the most likely to cover as much of the board as possible and then ran with it. We reached a little over 2/3 of the board in the same amount of time. We also found that when we were hyperfocused and not talking to each other we were able to cover more of the board in less time. A game like this would be excellent to teach students about patterns and math but also about focus and productivity. The only drawbacks would be for hyper competitive students or students who become frustrated when their partners were slacking. - ARB

By: Briana Watson

This game is a great way for students to play with math without knowing they are using it. After playing the game once, we were able to come up with a strategy that had us find all of our own numbers on our own by adding three every time, rather than waiting for the last player to go before our turn. It was a great brain math teaser as well as would be a great bonding experience for students in the class.
