Ambition can be dangerous and can be corrupted. This is shown with Macbeth and his ambition to become king. It causes him to go and kill Banquo and his sons so Banquo and his sons doesn't have a chance to be kings.

After Macbeth goes through with the killing of Duncan we can see that the nature begins acting strange . Horses begin eating each other and the weather is out of control . Macbeth also begins hallucinating afterwards . All of these can be seen as a representation of Macbeths current mental state . As Macbeth works towards his goal of becoming king he starts to lose his mental stability as a result of the things he has to do in order to achieve his goal. The weather’s instability represents Macbeths current mental fragility . The horses eating each other represents his two sides , good and evil, at a constant war against each other , and the reality of what he has done eating away at his sanity . His hallucinations are a byproduct of his guilty conscience. In act two scene two , lady Macbeth tells him , “we can’t think that way about what we did , if we do it’ll drive us crazy.” Macbeth describes hearing knocking sounds and , and people plucking out his eyes , it’s clear in act 2 and 3 that he is losing his sanity because of what he’s done and it’s symbolized by the unstable and weird nature.
