Biological Transition

I did gymnastics from pre-k-5th and once I hit puberty I was able to do more challenging movements and skills that required more physical strength, like climbing to the top of the rope. This was because physical strength increases in puberty.

This was the place where I did gymnastics once a week.

Cognitive Transition

When we were kids, my older brother would always want to play chess with me. I never wanted to because I knew he would win every time. This was because his cognitive development was further along than mine and he could think more abstractly and plan his moves ahead. As I got older and was able to think more abstractly so it wasn't as easy for him to beat me.

Social Transition (culture)

Growing up in a Christian family, we celebrated Christmas and Halloween which are catholic holidays. Now that my siblings and I are getting older we are continuing on the holiday traditions that we grew up with.

This is a picture of me and my boyfriend (right) and one of my brothers decorating our Christmas tree a couple of years ago. The angle at the top of the tree was my great grandma's.

Growing up, my siblings and I had critical/rival relationships. But now that we are older we have buddy/casual relationships. Now, instead of picking on each other or bickering, we meet up to get coffee and catch up.

I ran track all throughout high school and had a good relationship with the team. We worked hard and supported each other. Having a group of people who you can rely on in school makes classes and school work easier and more enjoyable. I chose this image because the 4x8 team I was a part of trained hard and broke a 40-year-old school record.

Growing up I went to a small school (only 68 people in my graduating class) and really enjoyed it. I had a good relationship with my teachers and there was a good community throughout the school. After learning about how a smaller school size is normally better, I can agree that it has many benefits.

The summer before my senior year of high school I got a part-time job at a Mexican restaurant. Being a student-athlete and working during the week taught me how to balance my schedule and made me better at making and communicating plans. It also taught me how to budget which is something I will use for my future careers.

At this point in my life, I am in the Moratorium status. Even though I have made a commitment to a future career I want to have, I'm still changing my personality and style. All throughout middle school and high school, I used music as a way to express myself. Even now, I like finding new bands/artists and listening to their songs on repeat. I use their style to influence my own. I chose this image of my liked songs because these are the songs I'm obsessed with at the moment.

Autonomy

A few months after I got my first job I had saved up enough money to buy my car. Being able to take myself places gave me so much more freedom and allowed me to do more things. This affected my cognitive development because it opened up more doors for me and broadened my horizon of places I could go and see. This is a picture from said car after I did a 180 into a field the first winter that I had it.

Intimacy, Love, Sexuality

In middle school any relationship that I had normally didn't last any longer than a week. This was because the relationship was in the initiation phase. In high school, my relationships were longer and filled with less anxiety. This was because they were in the status phase. Dating became more about spending time with each other and being comfortable together. I chose this picture because I thought it hilariously sums up most dating in middle school/high school.

Achievement

My achievement in school was getting an honors diploma. Getting my diploma set me up for the path I am on now, gave me some college credits, and I was able to get an academic scholarship to BW.
