Ravinia Festival is an outdoor music venue in Highland Park, Illinois. It hosts a series of outdoor concerts and performances every summer from June to September.

In the other, we worked on putting the garden to bed for the winter:

harvesting the garden’s final tomatoes, taking down the trellises, and

chopping up the old stalks for compost.

We will have to charge students $8 each for the bus (parents volunteer is free, no extra charge)

Why Become a Level II Volunteer?

As a Level II Volunteer, you can:

Attend classroom events and Celebrations of Learning.

Chaperone day field trips (with a CPS employee present at all times).

Serve as a guest speaker at events or assemblies.

Volunteer under ten hours a week in the school (under supervision of a CPS employee at all times).

For those interested in more extensive involvement, Level I Volunteers have additional responsibilities and requirements:

Volunteering over ten hours a week.

Working with students one-on-one.

Non-supervised classroom assistants

Serving as volunteer coach, tutor or mentor

Chaperoning trips (supervising a group of children without a CPS employee's direct supervision).

Application Process for Level I Volunteers:

Register with Family and Community Engagement (FACE) by completing the required CPS volunteer application forms at https://chicagopublicschools.civicore.com/index.php?action=english

Satisfy the requirements of the applicant review process.

As part of the application process, you will receive an email asking you to complete a background check and submit the report. CPS pays the fee for the background check. Background checks are run annually for returning Level I volunteers.

Submit TB test results that are less than two years old. We will provide information about where you can be tested. CPS does not cover the cost of the TB test.

I know these trips are close together, but we need as much parent support as possible. Our recent walking field trip was challenging to manage, creating unnecessary stress and anxiety about student safety. Because of this, I will not take students on another trip without proper support. I didn’t ask for volunteers today because I wanted to be mindful of your work schedules, but moving forward, we need all hands on deck.

If you can only attend one trip, I strongly encourage you to join us for the Art Institute. Since it's an open museum, the risk of students getting lost is higher. The Google trip, however, is in a contained space designed specifically for special needs students, making it a safer environment.

I plan these trips to give our students meaningful, hands-on learning experiences at little to no cost. With that in mind, for the safety and well-being of all students, a parent or guardian MUST attend each field trip unless other arrangements are made with Ms. Orn.

Field trips are not a required part of my job, but something I choose to do because I want our students to explore and experience the world beyond the classroom. With your support, I hope we can continue creating many more wonderful memories together!
