1/25/24 - Explore the impact of friendships on your well-being, personal growth, and overall happiness.

In my life, my friendships are something I spend a lot of time on and value heavily. They bring overall happiness to my life and make me feel safe. It's probably because I derive so much connection and joy from my friends and spend a good chunk of each day maintaining. I know my friends always want the best for me and want me to do my best in everything I do. Having that support from them feels great and, makes me inclined to give it back to them. I have many friends I am close enough with for them to see even my worst parts. But, I think the best feeling when you have many of those types of friendships is seeing which ones are growing further and which ones are unspoken. I feel warm when I know I am getting closer to a friend. There is something so comforting to me about having people you know care for you and that you can enjoy your time with. Sometimes, I don't really know if I would have as much joy in my life without the friends that I love. And I think that's okay when they feel the same way for me and we can mutually enjoy each other's company and laughter.

1/31/24 - If your life was suddenly a hit reality television show, what would it be called? What would viewers say about it?

If my life was suddenly a hit reality television show it would be called "JJ" short for "Just Jerzy" or as my initials for my name "Jerzy Janison". I think this feels more casual and not like a crazy name. I think it encapsulates that the show is just about my life and whats going on for me. Viewers would say that it is great because who wouldn't be interested in my life. I think it would be funny and people would be interested with the thoughts that come out of my head. I would probably be very expressive on the show and people would get to see the real me.

2/26/24 - What does it mean to embody Justice, Peace, and Liberation? Who is someone in your life who does this well?

To embody Justice means to be someone who addresses systemic inequalities and promotes equal rights for all members of society. To embody Peace means to be someone who goes beyond the absence of conflict and encompasses harmony, reconciliation, and the establishment of positive relationships at individual, societal, and global levels. To emboy Liberation means to be someone who provides freedom from oppressive structures and systems that limit someones ability to live fully and authentically.

Someone in my life who I think embodies justice, peace, and liberation is myself because I think I do well deescalating conflicts and reconciling with others by coming up with a compromise that addresses everyones needs as best as possible.

4/9/24 - Consider how the eclipse affected you personally, intellectually, and emotionally. What did you find most fascinating about the phenomenon? How did witnessing the eclipse contribute to your understanding of astronomy or the natural world?

For me, what impacted me the most about the solar eclipse was it being a once in a life time experience living in the line of totality. I just think it was meant for all of us to see and it was really refreshing after it happened. It almost felt like a new day or just a reset. When I watched the eclipse, I went to Impett Park with my friends and we all sat together on blankets. It was really connecting to have that experience together and something I will remember forever. Almost he entire West Park community was there with music and games. This contributed to my understanding of our community because we don't always come together like that but, when we do we make it a fun time. The experience was peaceful and showed me that I need to bring the aspect of peace into my daily life as well not just sometimes.

5/3/24 - Express your thoughts, emotions, and any personal connections you drew from the video in your journal entry.

While watching the video I really started to reflect on what really matters to me in life. Yes, I want to be successful and have a comfortable life but really looking back on my life I want to remember the fun times I had and good things I did in life for others. My impact is important to me because I want to go out feeling at peace with myself for what I used my time for. We only live once so I want to make the most out of it. The video had me reflect on my morals and values because those will also dictate the way I live my life. Because I watched the video, I want to make it a point to make my own impact on others and make the most of my life.

5/13/24 - What is something you learned from the sacramental photo journal? What is one thing that stood out to you from the person's photo journal you read?

Something I learned from the Sacramental Photo Journal is sacramentality is the concept of our tangible experiences having a deeper significance in our lives. Our daily rituals or things that may seem mundane are opportunities for us to grow and receive deep spiritual truths.

One thing that stood out to me from Cam's photo journal was the presence of her horse in her life. She mentioned that horseback riding is a release for her and gives her a clear mind. I can also relate it in my life to playing rugby. When I am playing rugby I am present in the moment and all my worries go away. I find it interesting how we all have different ways of releasing our minds and relieving our stresses.

A time when someone did not understand me was freshman year when I asked my friend if she wanted help coming up with ideas for her project and she took it as I didn't think she was smart enough to do it herself. I told her I didn't mean it like that and she was no longer mad but, we aren't really that close anymore and that makes me sad.

In all honestly, I feel like people misunderstand me daily and I am pretty used to having to explain myself to others when they don't understand. Although it makes me frustrated sometimes, I do my best to be more clear the next time and explain what I mean by things.

4/15/24 - Reflect on your experience attending the presentation. This can include personal insights, connections to course material, or thoughts on how the presentation impacts your understanding of relevant topics.

I really enjoyed going to this experience because of how informational and straightforward it was. I appreciated how open it was for the speakers to give their responses and how they educated us on proper terminology and background information of all that is happening in Palestine. One thing the presentation taught me about my own life is that I need to be more grateful. One of the speakers shared their experience in Palestine, recalling instances where children were unable to cross a checkpoint to attend school. Instead, they would spend their day at the gates, diligently doing their schoolwork. This prompted reflections for me on the immense uncertainty these children face. It made me appreciate the seemingly small yet significant things to be grateful for, like the assurance of reaching school each morning.
