I was the struggling student in Math and the GT kiddo in English. I feel like I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum and know first had how it feels like. Despite having the most supportive parents in the world, the neighborhood I grew up in was a tough one surrounded by drugs and gangs. Due to the different exposures and experiences I’ve had in life I feel like I’ve been in many different shoes and feel like I have somewhat of an idea on how to get through to each child. For my toughest kiddos I like to share my story with them and let them know that they do NOT have to be a product of their environment and can keep working to make those weaknesses into strengths.
