Visible Learning is the impact that instruction has on students. They need to be able to know what they are learning, why they are learning and how they will accomplish their learning inn order to prove it's took/taking place. I actually have a poster displayed in my room with these three questions. The students and I answer them prior to every lesson.

Visible learning is "understanding the impact that instructional efforts have on student learning". Essentially it is students understanding the what, the why, and what it means to be good at learning. It's important so that students can progress through surface level learning to deeper level learning and further transfer their learning. It involves intentionally planning and using the most appropriate instructional routines at the most appropriate times for the best outcomes of student learning. - Tamika Hunter

It’s the what, why, and how the students will learn. I liked the fact that the author acknowledged that we need to try to figure out the students surface level knowledge of a subject, follow through infilling some of the gaps before we go straight to deeper learning. I have a laminated poster on which I can write multiple objectives with I can...so that I can...I’ll know I have it when.... (I still want to see Jessica’s also!).
